Five Marys Sheepskin Pelts!

We just got another round of our Navajo Churro sheepskin pelts back and they are gorgeous!! The process to get them here takes 6-8 months. First e pick the hides up from the abattoir and take them to be fleshed and salted (by a taxidermist in Oregon who has his sons do this job for us, learning the trade early!) then we pick them up and dry them on the ranch for 3-8 weeks depending on weather. Then we pack each one individually and ship them to Amish country in Pennsylvania for a 12-14 week tanning process. They ship them back afterwards and it's like Christmas opening the box....
