POSITION AVAILABLE : Teacher + Program Director for : M5 Schoolhouse / The Borchard Society non-profit
Located in Fort Jones, CA in a dedicated classroom space (to be built out for the program)
3-5 days a week (flexible for the right person with their schedule/needs)
Start date late August or early September 2024 - summers off if preferred
Weekdays 9am to 3pm or later some days for enrichment (likely Fridays off)
Salary or hourly based on experience and schedule - health insurance available
Duties include :
TEACHING : monitor and encourage, sometimes tutor 4-10 students grades 6-12th in their accredited online programs (either SVUSD Options Edgenuity, BYU Online or Lauren Springs Academy) to keep them on schedule, moving along through coursework
ENRICHMENT : provide enrichment classes for students in things like etiquette, excel spreadsheets, interview tactics, public speaking, art, or other interests
FAITH + SERVICE : Helping to start programs incorporating our non-profit just formed in honor of our great grandmother who led a life of service and faith in the agricultural world : The Borchard Society “Be kind, serve your neighbor, and better yourself.”
EDUCATION : We hope to create a learning center to provide an environment for faith based education and enrichment as well as helping students to plan and execute their own service opportunities with the tools to grow in faith, education, agriculture and community.
SERVICE : We are creating resources to encourage service to one’s community especially for their local neighbors in need, the elderly, the disabled and children. We will offer approachable guides and resources for groups to plan and execute this in their own communities with tools to create a similar experience no matter where they live - while encouraging more to get back to their roots in agriculture or learn more about the ag world.
COMMUNITY : We hope to foster and build a community locally and world-wide through educational materials that encourage deeper learning, education in agriculture and community building projects that are approachable and can be accomplished by the youth in The Borchard Society community.
PROJECTS (ideally we build the framework for these and other projects that can be executed locally but also shared with others online to encourage them to happen all over the country)
A Year of Kindness : Build the framework and share monthly community challenges each month with a suggested act of service and provide the tools and resources for youth to identify their project, plan, and execute - culminating in 12 months of service and kindness for their community!
High School Student Success Journal : Our first project - a student journal and planner to encourage volunteering, kindness, and education and to allow students to document and record their efforts for college application preparedness. A sample of the 4-year journal content can be found HERE.
