Kid's Cookbook Sneak Peek!

We are so excited to share our new cookbook with you soon! Passed Down is a collection of recipes for families that pays homage to the first cookbook I ever recieved - For Good Measure.

I recieved For Good Measure when I was only 4 years old as a gift from my grandmother. It has since been filled with crayon markings, ingredient stains, creased pages, and lots of memories from cooking in the kitchen with it as a kid.

My cookbook still lives in our Five Marys kitchen, where Tessa (the youngest of all my Marys!) uses it often.

The recipes in this book are forgiving and flexible, so don't be afraid to use what you have, substitute for what you don't, and use the last few pages to create new recipes of your own.

We hope that you enjoy this cookbook and make lots of your own memories in the kitchen with it and the people that you love.

I'll keep you updated as soon as this cookbook is ready... but in the meantime, here are a couple sample recipes and a sneak peek inside the book.

Sloppy Joe

  • 1/2 pound ground beef

  • 1/2 onion, chopped

  • 2 tablespoons butter

  • 1/2 can tomato sauce

  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika

  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder

  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar

  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

  • 2 hamburger buns

Instructions

Heat butter in a skillet and brown ground beef and onion. Add all remaining ingredients except for the buns. Cover and simmer for 10-15 minutes, stirring from time to time. Spoon onto hamburger buns. You can toast the hamburger buns if you would like to.

Blondies

  • 2 eggs + 1 egg yolk

  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch

  • 2/3 cup white chocolate chips

Instructions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Line a 9x13 inch pan with parchment paper. Combine melted butter, white sugar, and brown sugar together and stir well. Add eggs, egg yolk, and vanilla and stir until smooth. Add salt, flour, cornstarch, and baking powder and mix well. Stir in white chocolate chips.
